Resumo

The Global Climate Models are the most comprehensive tools to assess future climate. However, the spatial scale of GCM is often not adequate for regional nor local purposes. as Downscaling and bias correction are some of the several techniques used to bridge that scale mismatch. In this study we assessed bias correction for the precipitation from CMIP5 climate models and its performance in regards to marginal (number of dry days and monthly maximum precipitation) and temporal aspects (annual cycle).in the Itajaí River Basin. We used Quantile Mapping for correcting the full period and in a month by month basis. The monthly-based bias correction had better performance than the annual-based in regards to the temporal aspect. As far as dry days and monthly maximum, the approach used was not satisfactory when compared to observations.
