Resumo

The Urban Water Group for Latin America and the Caribbean was created with the aim of contributing to the strengthening of the management of the integrated urban water in the countries of the region. The interest of the Group is to advance to the definition of regional action strategies, which are based on scientific and technical knowledge and the exchange of information and experiences. During 2012 the Group defined its priority lines of work, among which was highlighted the development of an agreed methodology for establishing the water risk maps. This issue was identified as a priority contribution to the countries. It was considered necessary, from the extensive international and regional experience in the field, to take a step forward towards the promotion of a common methodology that yield comparable results. The work involves promoting both the threat and the vulnerability, and is framed in land management actions. This paper presents a work plan that ensures sustainability of the proposal. The process include, among other things, instances of training of technical and managers for the development and implementation of the methodology.
