Urban Floods


In this work we model the area of urban watershed stream Sem Nome in the municipality of Ilha Solteira in the northwest of São Paulo state, bordering the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in order to understand the behavior and the areas at risk of flooding. The catchment area of the stream Sem Nome is already in a growing process of urbanization which, by itself alone, the simple increase of impervious areas present in this urban watershed, already shows the possibility of flooding. In this scenario we use five time intervals for heavy precipitation events with recurrence time of 10, 20, 30, 50 and 100. The use software to compile the information and to develop simulation was ArcGIS® 10 by ArcScene® 10 included in his package tool to evaluate from it by means of 3D views flood areas for each of the events , working information allows us to map areas of risk and guide us to avoid or mitigate the effects of these possible scenarios of extreme rainfall.
