Resumo

The projection of the linear tendency carried out for the five intensities of rain analyzed - 0,1 to 0,25 mm h-¹ (weak), 0,25 to 1,0 mm h-¹ (very weak), 1,0 to 4,0 mm h-¹ (moderated), 4,0 to 16,0 mm h-¹ (strong) and 16,0 to 50,0 mm h-¹ (very strong) showed that there was a reduction in the frequency hours of more weak rains. In other words, decrease in the number of cases involving precipitation associated with thick fogs, fogs, drizzles and light storms (nimbostratus) during the period from 1970 to 2009. On the other side, the results revealed for the same period an increase in the frequency hours of stronger rains. In other words, the increase in the number of cases involving precipitation associated with ordinary and severe storms.
