Resumo

The advancement in the acquisition of continuous time series of suspended sediment transport using optical properties as an indirect measure, has positioned itself as a tool recognized worldwide in monitoring and studies. This systematic review addresses the current state of research in Brazil, describing the characteristics of the studies compiled (study objective, geographic distribution, size of the watersheds monitored, type of sensor used and amount of data used in the calibration). It is important to highlight the need to adopt a clear definition of the representativeness and coverage of the data collected from physical samples used in the calibration and subsequent validation processes.
