Resumo

Erosion leads to a reduction in the cultivable depth and its fertility, in addition to silting rivers, estuaries and reservoirs. Its mathematical representation is an important tool for the management and planning of soil and water conservation. The Guaporé river watershed, located in the northeast region of the Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, has a high capacity for transference and connectivity between sediment sources and river network. Its soils are very susceptible to erosion and the croplands are the main source of sediment. Besides that, the hydrosedimentological processes of the watershed are complex and difficult to be evaluated due to the heterogeneity of soils, relief and use. The objective of the work was to evaluate the efficiency of the MGB-SED model to predict of the flow and to evaluate the efficiency in the prediction of the suspended solid discharge, the spatial distribution of erosion and the sediment transport. The model efficiently represented the hydrological behavior and the spatial distribution of sediment production of the basin and the solid discharge of sediments suspended in rivers. Being very useful in future studies to assess water availability and sediment production.
