Resumo
Currently, new technologies are being developed for the quantification of solid discharge, using remote sensing techniques, allowing a synoptic view and the generation of series with greater frequency and at low cost. The objective of this work is to elaborate and evaluate sediment rating curves with remote sensing and field data in the Middle São Francisco. Based on data collected from suspended particulate material and spectroradiometer data measured in the São Francisco River, algorithms were developed to estimate suspended particulate material. The reflectance values of MODIS sensor from virtual stations created on stretches of São Francisco River, surrounding six sediment stations of ANA, were extracted using the MOD3Rand applied to the models for estimating suspended particulate material and solid discharge of remote sensing. With the water discharge data from ANA stations, and the estimated and measured solid discharge values of remote sensing and field, respectively, rating curves of remote sensing and field sediments were designed. The results show that the sediment rating curves from remote sensing are robust and representative of the sediment dynamics that occur in the Middle São Francisco. SR's use made it possible to obtain data greater frequency at a much lower cost, and much more representative of flow´s range of values that occur in the São Francisco River. The sediment rating curves at ANA stations have, in general, the lowest mean absolute deviation than the remote sensing curves. However, the low number of measurements and the flow range that they reach make the curves less representative.
