Resumo
The low availability of in situ measured data makes it difficult to calibrate and validate sediment generation and transport models. Alternative methods of obtaining data then emerge. Thus, this work seeks to evaluate the feasibility of finding a correlation between the concentration of suspended sediments and the spectral reflectance of the water surface in the red band, with data obtained from the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud geoprocessing platform, as an aid in the validation of the MGB-SED sediment model applied to the Paraíba do Sul river basin. the GEE tool proved to be highly effective in data acquisition, making the process of analyzing remote sensing data much more practical, fast, and effective. The reflectance data were compared with the suspended sediment data measured using Pearson's correlation (r) presented values higher than 0.5 (r> 0.50) at all points of analysis, making this framework a promising tool to aid in the validation of hydrosedimentological models.
