Resumo

The coastal zones are regions with great movement of energy, that are located under a transition area, between the continent and the sea. This region is characterized by a great diversity of natural and biological resources, which draws attention to economic investments in the real estate market, industries and port movement, in addition to tourism. The development of these activities generates the anthropic impact associated with the oceanographic, geological and climatic characteristics of the site, provoking or stimulating the erosive processes, which constitute coastal erosion. Coastal erosion involves the transport of sediments from one site to another, forming environments with deposition and removal of sediments. The Espirito Santo coast presents fragility in relation to the erosive processes that occur along its coast, considering this theme, the present study will address the action of coastal protection works, as a way to mitigate the occurrence of erosive processes in Central Beach in municipality of Marataizes.
