Resumo

Coastal erosion is characterized by the exchange of energy between the terrestrial and marine environments through the sedimentary balance. This process has as main factors climatic, oceanographic and topographic conditions. Human settlement in the coastal zone is one of the main aggravating factors for erosive processes along the coastline, resulting in serious socio-environmental problems, which are commonly mitigated by the implementation of rigid coastlinestabilization structures. The coast of Pernambuco has visibility in the search for solving problems of coastal erosion and mitigation of intense human occupation in one of the shorter coastal stretches of Brazil. The presence of coastal protectionon the beaches of Pernambuco have unknown impacts on sedimentary circulation patterns, especially in the coastal currents, such effects may generate undesirable results in beach morphology and anomalies in the medium to long term. The present study seeks to understand the distribution of these shaping structures of the coastline, as well as to analyze througha sample sectionin the coastlinethe temporal evolution of the effects of sedimentary accumulation caused by theuse of coastal protection structures. Theseanalyzeswere obtained byremote sensing, geographic information system environment and database aboutthe evidence of problems related to coastal erosion on the beaches of Pernambuco.
