Resumo
Knowing the solid discharge of water bodies is in the interest of several areas of engineering and environment, helping in the identification of future problems arising from sediments.Although total solid discharge is the most important variable in sedimentological studies, it is not measured daily.Due to the complexity of sediment transport, it is necessary to adopt analyzes and studies that lead to representative parameters of this phenomenon. The sediment key curve relates the flow of a transverse cross-section and the transport of sediments. Thus, the objective of this study was to calculate the solid discharges for the monitored days and to create the solid discharge curves for three tributaries of the Iguaçu River, through data obtained by field sediment samples.Monitoring provided a notion of sediment behavior in each of the studied rivers.Through the sediment transport quantificationit was possible to construct a solid discharge key curve for each point. As the data here deal with sample collected in the field for analysis, having no historical series of flow and transport of sediments, there were difficulties in tracing a CCS.This fact may have occurred because the few collections were carried out and the reduced interval between them. However, by excluding data that were apparently outliers, a better fit of the curve was obtained and a closer relationship between solid flow and net flow of the studied rivers was obtained. However, for these indirect estimates of solid discharges to be more reliable, it is important to continue and complement the sedimentometric monitoring of therivers in question, so that safety can be assured in the exclusion of the outliers and that in fact the adjustments were correct.
