Resumo
Water is becoming increasingly scarce due to anthropic actions and the inadequate use of water bodies. In this case, the great concern about preservation and conservation of water bodies arises through the implantation of basic sanitation that is of the great importance for the preservation of the environment and prevention of diseases. The present article?s general objective isto evaluate the physical-chemical parameters (pH, temperature, conductivity, alkalinity, total solids and dissolved oxygen) of Córrego dos Índios in Malacacheta ?MG (a stream located in the the city of Malacacheta, the state of Minas Gerais), having as specific objectives the accomplishment of physical-chemical analyzes at the upstream (point 1) and downstream points (point 2), verifying the values found coincided with the standards established by the legislation for human consumption patterns and its environmental impacts when comparing the points analyzed. Laboratory analysis, statistical analysis of the data and hypothetical test were performed to compare the averages obtained between the points. Although there are some parameters within the potable water standards, it was verified that the results indicated that there is no equality between the means, that is, that the upstream water does not have the same physic-chemical characteristics of the downstream water, indicating that the discharge of sewage in Córrego dos Índios may be one of those responsible for altering the quality of the water in the stream and that there are indications of environmental impacts on the site.
