Resumo

The present study has an objective to analyze soil losses in the Rio das Fêmeas Basin from the use of the Universal Soil Loss Equation in a GIS environment.To determine the parameters that are applied in USLE, rainfall data, digital elevation models, Landsat 8 series satellite images, soil type information and their physical properties were used.The mean values calculated were 10.85t.ha-1.year-1and considered at the interface between a null to moderate intensity. The part of the basin that least suffered with soil loss is the eastern portion, due to the greater attenuation of this effect, caused by the protection of the native vegetation still being predominant in the area. On the other hand, the western part suffers with higher soil losses due to the use of soil for rainfed agriculture, which leaves the soil vulnerable to erosion processes, as well as higher rainfall rates in this region of the basin.
