Resumo

Soil water erosion directly affects water resources through the sediments yields. To solve this problem, the recommendation of soil and water conservation practices should bedefined atcatchment scale. The aimof this work is to present the relationships between the seasonality of the landuse andsoilmanagement of the basin and the temporal dynamics ofwater flow (Q)and suspended sediment concentration (CSS), as well as other indexesthat reflect the anthropogenicand climatic influence. For this, 43 rainfall-runoff-sediment events were used in a small rural catchment with high environmental fragility. Indexes such as CN, apparent infiltration and characteristic variables ofthehydrographs and sedimentographs were calculated. The results showedthe importance of the extreme events in the sediment yield. The seasonality of the indexes should be used in the chooseofthe soil and waterconservation practices. Landuse conditions impacts directlyinto runoff peaksand runoff total volume, for example, in the periodswithless surface cover, decreasingthe apparentinfiltration, as well. The main results highlightedthe importance of the hydrossedimentological monitoring in representing the effects of the landuseand soil management in thesmall catchment scale and supportthe adoption of theconservationist planning.
