Resumo

In this work,different methods(directs and indirects) wereimplemented to assess the bedload transport during a period of high waters in animportantsandyriver called Taquari, located in the Pantanal watershed, Brazil.The Helley-Smith trap was usedto collect sediment samples at six points ina crosssection, estimating the solid dischargein the whole sectionfrom extrapolations. An acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP)measured bed sediment velocitythrough static measurements on each vertical with Bottom-Trackmode. Consideringa thickness for the transport layer in the bottom,it was also possible to estimatethe bedload. Finally,six empirical formulasavailable in the literature estimated the sediment transport from hydraulic parameters collected in the field survey. Due to the uncertainties related to all the methods,it is difficult to determine which one is the mostaccurate, but it was possible to estimate the magnitude of the bedload transport in the crosssection. More studies are neededin order to improve measurement techniques and to better understand the applicabilityand limitationsof formulas
