Resumo
Erosion is associated with a number of local problems such as reduced agricultural fertility and water quality. One way to quantify erosion and soil loss is using the USLE equation. Although this equation is widely used in Brazil, few studies have investigated the influence of ways to obtain factor C on the result of soil loss. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of soil use and soil cover factor (Factor C) in the estimateof soil loss using USLE. Factor C was estimated by assigning literature data for each class of land use and cover and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) obtained from Landsat 8 images. This methodology resulted in two different results of soil loss, 64.96 ± 76.07 t ha-1year -1using NDVI factor Cand 2.31 ± 2.91 t ha-1year -1using factor C with the assignment of values for each land class use. The soil loss related to Cr (proposed by Durigon et al., 2014)showed consistent results, compared to the values in the literature.
