Resumo
The paper deals with hydrosedimentological studies in a multidisciplinary context, in the Pandeiros river basin. It is located in the northwest of Minas Gerais State, Brazil, on the left bank of the São Francisco River, of which it is a direct tributary. The following topics are being studied:1) Analysis of the dynamics of slopes and the existing wetland near the mouth of the river, where the main causes of erosion/sedimentation of the Pandeiros River Basin are sought, by means of: a) Survey of the main characteristics and dynamics of the slopes and associated factors, as potential sources of erosion; b) Identification, characterization, quantification and mapping of gullies erosion; c) Evolutionary and dynamic analysis of the sedimentation process of the Pandeiros wetlands: natural and anthropic influences; d) Factors associated with this deposition, and the role of retention of these areas in terms of thebasindynamics.2) Study of the types of land use and occupations along the basin, highlighting the waterheadareas, aiming to map and evaluate how these uses can contribute to impact surface cover and intensify sediment generation.3) Climatic diagnosis of the Pandeiros River basin, using data from the official INMET network, and weather stations and rain gauges installed with project resources, in order to compose a summary of the climatic organization of the region at different spatial and temporal scales, covering the genesis and characteristics of the main atmospheric elements in the region.4) Qualitative and quantitative characterization of water and sedimentological parameters of the Pandeiros River drainage network through measurements in five hydrosedimentological stations along the river, four of which were installed by the project and one already existent, where the project activities included the measurement of sediment transport. These studies aim to: a) evaluate the contribution to this transport of distinct parcels of the river basin, taking into account also its characteristics, determined from the multidisciplinary studies in execution in the project; b) establish a hydrosedimentological balance for the Pandeiros River basin.
