Resumo

For improvements in theunderstand of thehydro-sedimentological processes and to minimize the effects of the sedimentsassociated environmental problems, it is important an integrated approach of watersheds studies. It is very difficult to obtain sediments data in large basins, so hydrological-sediment models are an alternative to assist the management of water resources. The objective of this study is the sediment processes modelling of the Guaíba Lake basinand estimate the suspended solid discharge in the Guaíba Lake. It was usedthe model MGB-SED, developed from the coupling of a sediment module to the hydrological model MGB-IPH. The equation used by the modelfor sediment yieldis the MUSLE. The model calibration was done to the parameters K and C, and the method was trial and error. The total data used was from 20 flow stations in the basin, and the simulated period was from 2001 to 2010 (calibration step) and from 1990 to 2000 (validation step). The main model evaluation metric was the PBIASand it presented 13 satisfactory results. The results show that it is possible to use the MGB-SED to model hydro-sedimentological processes in the basin and the suspended solid discharge in the Guaíba Lake calculated was 4.1x10? t/year
