Resumo

Mountainous regions, especially where rural families live, need to be investigated in terms of the debris flow occurrences. Furthermore, such natural phenomena must be analyzed with computational models because of the fact that there are a small number of the works dealing them on field or with physical models in Brazil. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the debris flow occurrence in a rural site inside the municipality of Alto Feliz, Rio Grande do Sul state, by using the Kanako-2D model. The simulation was carried out with three scenarios where the initial debris volumes were different. The debris flow map was elaborated for each scenario. The results (maps) show that in all the scenarios the debris flow will pass over an existing house. Independent on the debris volumes, the erosion area and the deposition area are very similar among the scenarios. Along the stream channel, the deposition occurred strongly just before the abrupt and reducing change of slopes. A possible formation of natural dam is observed at the channel junction. Furthermore, it can be said that the largest erosion or the largest deposition occurs at the talweg position along the transversal section.
