Resumo
The hydrosedimentological processes in a watershed involve different types of phenomena, since a chronic natural event, such as superficial erosion, to an extreme event, such as mass movement. The temporal and spatial scales of these two phenomena are different, being the mass movement of greater magnitude, but of less frequent occurrence. The objective of this work is to comparatively analyze sediment generation through debris flow and sediment generation through superficial erosion during a year of precipitation close to the average, without the occurrence of extreme events, in the Cunha river basin, municipality Rio dos Cedros, Santa Catarina State. For this, data were used from two debris flow that occurred in November 2008 and sediment measurement data on the outlet watershed during the period of one year between 2012 and 2013. It was found the debris flow generated sediment quantity of an order of magnitude greater when compared to the quantity generated through superficial erosion during one year. It is concluded that in mountainous basins is conceivable that the mass movements are the most important phenomena to sediment generation.
