Resumo
Creating synthetic rainfall scenarios at high temporal resolutions is crucial for many environmental applications. Despite the existence of numerous simulation techniques, their practical adoption among professionals is often hindered by challenges in model calibration due to limited sample sizes. We propose a new, parsimonious method for estimating the parameters of multifractal disaggregation models. Our method relies solely on Intensity-Duration-Frequency curves, which are widely available and easily accessible to practitioners. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated through some case studies, where the statistical properties of the simulated timeseries are thoroughly compared with observed data.
