Resumo
Historically, the private appropriation of water has always been associated with land concentration, particularly in geopolitical contexts in which the land structure is characterized by land concentration. Thus, with the expansion of processes of water scarcity and environmental crisis, land grabbing and the phenomenon of water grabbing have been drawing the attention of researchers and analysts, making it even more necessary to deepen and improve methods and techniques capable of evaluating current forms of water appropriation. This work aims to map and systematize information about methods used to identify and measure the dynamics of water abstraction. This study focuses on bibliometric analysis and a qualitative systematic review of the literature regarding water grabbing and appropriation in the Scopus database. The results show that 492 documents explore these themes, indicating their influence on the evolution of knowledge on the topic. In addition, it was identified that 36 documents share similar citations and use a variety of qualitative methods but lack quantitative methods to understand the referred phenomena. Due to the diversity of water presentation forms (in all its forms, liquid, gaseous and solid), it is necessary to expand the quantitative research carried out in order to have a more comprehensive picture of the scientific production on the subject.
