Resumo
Dams are built to create a reservoir that can serve several purposes. With agricultural development and a greater need for food, there has been an increase in the construction of small dams, especially in small rural properties. These are important structures, since they are multipurpose and can minimize problems of flooding, irrigation, animal watering, among others. The small dams are often built without an adequate design or a technical responsible, they have no registration in regulatory agencies, which makes carrying out inspections more difficult. Although they also have problems, small dams are not covered by the Law n. 12.334/10, unless they are classified as having medium or high Associated Potential Damage (APD) or a high Risk Category (RC). So, this work aims to survey the small dams in the Ribeirão das Cabras microbasin, in the city of Campinas - SP and its CR and APD classification, considering the requirements of Law n. 12.334/10. The authors emphasize the importance of a different look at small dams, with specific parameters and guidelines, which take into account their peculiarity.
