Resumo

Understand the hydrological behavior of large-scale basins is complex beyond the constant lack of data. On the other hand, the hydrological models use very simple processes to represent the events of the hydrological cycle of large areas. A toolthat comes assisting the development of large-scale hydrological models is the use of GIS (geographic information System), a tool that assists in the analysis of soil, and relief coverage, so that if you can get a more complete understanding on the processes of large-scale basins. So it was applied the model MGB-IPH (Large Basins model developed by Hydraulic Research Institute of UFRGS) that it is a distributed model and has an approach using information about the digital elevation model of the area and two forms of flows routing, the calculations model of Muskin-Cunge and the Inertial. This work has the objective to compare the results of hydrological simulation Muskin-Cunge model and Inertial in the BAT (Basin of the Upper Taquari). The results indicate that the inertial model has a performance similar or superior to the Muskin-Cunge model, in cases where there is a significant lack of observed flow data, it could not to be stated. Thus, it was conclude the effectiveness of the calibration performs, makingpossible the use of the results obtained for future studies in the region. It was also been understood that the results can be improved by subsequent studies.
