Resumo

A large part of the Brazilian agricultural production is still transposed by unpaved roads. However, intense rains, incorrect design of drainage systems and poormaintenance causesintense erosive processes, whichcompromise the integrity of the roads and the nearby environments due to the soil losses causes by the surface runoff. In this context, the aimof this work was to develop a proposal for the adequacyof an unpaved road located on the campus of the Federal University of Viçosa, MG, Brazil. We performeda topographic measurementof a roads stretch with a length of 400m. We also verify the sitesnearby the road that could be used todirecting the runofftodecrease it velocity aimingthe soil particles detachment reduction. We used the software Estradas 2.0 for the planning of the adequacies, allowing to obtain, among other information, the soil losses (PS), runoffvolume, maximum runoff, and the design of accumulation basins. The road was divided into 5 sections, considering that the values of PS causedby the characteristics of the areahad less than tolerable PS. Toattend thesesnecessities, we recommend the construction ofthree accumulation basins, three points for directthe runoff to the vegetation area, revegetation of the road talus, bulging in certain stretchesof the roadand the construction of break springs. The section with higherslope presented the greatest PS with 6.6g, being that thetolerable PS was7.8g. The highest runoff volume was obtained in the longest stretch, with 18.8m3. It is emphasized the importance of the adequacy of rural roads in erosion control.
